The Singapore River Project was conceived by Goh Kim
Hui in June 2003. The objective of the project was to
document a pictorial collection of the River.
Singapore River not only sees the progress of Singapore,
but also the growth of local photography scene. Although
some pioneer photographers had recorded the changes
along Singapore River, no one had completed such a wide
coverage in the past 25 years especially after the river
cleaning up in the '80. With this project, Kim Hui hopes
to fill the gap and continue the collection in future.
10 members, led by Kim Hui, Spent approximately 6 months
shooting, documenting and making traditional black and
white prints which led to the setting of this exhibition
entitled- Singapore River, A Monochrome Experience.

provided audiences an insight to the day to day life
by this historic river amidst the modern skyscrapers
of Singapore.

from the clean up in the 1980s. The historical remnants,
the people who worked, lived and conducting their business
by this river. Some artistic elements at the river were
